Hakamjit logs win in tennis
In the ongoing Roots AITA Challenge Series (7) National Ranking Tennis Championships, Punjab’s Hakamjit Singh defeated Kushman Meen 6-1 6-0, in the boys’ U-16 qualifying round.
Another Punjab player, Arsh Singh, defeated Delhi’s Rishab Halder 6-4 6-3, while Gurnawaj Singh also logged an easy 6-2 6-0 win over Tanveer Singh.
Mrigyank Rawat of Uttarakhand outclassed Haryana’s Daksh Kamboj without conceding a single game 6-0 6-0, while Chandigarh’s Charchit Boora also logged an identical 6-0 6-0 win over Haryana’s Kritya Garg. In the final qualifying round, Hakamjit Singh faced tough resistance from Prabhsifat Singh before logging a 6-4 7-6(5) win over the top seed.
Second seed Haryana’s Mohit Singh defeated Punjab’s Arsh Singh 6-1 6-4 and third seed Ayaan Chandel outplayed Punjab’s Gurnawaj Singh 6-3 6-1.
Fourth seed Punjab’s Sohrab Singh defeated Haryana’s Ansh Bindla 6-1 6-3 and Mrigank Rawat easily blanked Punjab’s Prabhsaran Singh 6-0 6-0.
Shaurya Sharma of Uttar Pradesh blanked Haryana’s Mayank Bishnoi 6-0 6-1, and Punjab’s Gurshabad Singh defeated Shayan Kapur 6-1 6-0. Chandigarh’s Boora also advanced to the next round by defeating Haryana’s Tanishq Makhija 6-3 6-3.
