In a symbolic gesture of gratitude towards the armed forces, UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria today flagged off Army trucks carrying seven tonnes of specially prepared Diwali sweets for jawans stationed in the remote border regions of Ladakh. The ceremonial event was held at the Punjab Raj Bhawan.

The initiative, organised by the Rotary Club Chandigarh, aims to bring a touch of festive warmth to soldiers serving in some of the most challenging terrains, far from their families during Diwali.

During the event, the Governor paid tributes to the soldiers, emphasising the sacrifices they make while serving in extreme conditions, often isolated from their loved ones. “Our jawans are the true guardians of our nation’s borders. Their absence from home during such joyous occasions reminds us of their selfless dedication. This small gesture is a reminder that the country is grateful for their unwavering commitment to safeguarding our freedom and security,” he added.
