Dr Rakesh Kochhar, former professor and head, Department of Gastroenterology, PGIMER, has been recently honoured with the Dr PN Chuttani Oration at the Annual Conference of Indian Society of Gastroenterology at Varanasi. He has been invited to deliver the oration at the next annual conference of the society.

The oration is bestowed upon a senior member of the society for ‘distinguished achievement’ in a subject. The oration named after Dr PN Chuttani, an ex-director of the PGI is the most prestigious oration given by the society annually.

Dr Kochhar has been honoured for his lifelong commitment to gastroenterology and his pioneering research work. In October, he was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Crohn’s Colitis Foundation (India). Dr Kochhar has had a distinguished career at the PGIMER, spanning over four decades till he superannuated in 2020.
