Farm activists stage protests at mall in Kharar, Sector 63

Farm activists of the city unit of the BKU (Charuni) gathered at a mall in Kharar this morning to protest the removal of pro-farmer flags at a market in the mall. In the evening, around 10 of these activists staged a symbolic protest at the city’s Sector 63, to protest against Mayor Ravikant Sharma.
Sarbans Parteek said, “Farm activists, Kamalpreet Singh and Gagan, who own a shop here in the mall, has put up pro-farmer flags on their shop. They also distributed Trolly Times newspaper. The management had removed those flags and asked them to not distribute the paper.” He added, “Yesterday, when a video of the flags being removed from his shop went viral, he met us and said he is shutting down business. We asked the management to file a police complaint if they had a problem with the flags. But the management then agreed to put the flags back, as there were no ground for complaint.”
In the evening, the protesters gathered at Sector 63 and staged a protest by showing black flags to city Mayor who had arrived there to inaugurate a civic project. — TNS
