Employees’ union seeks closure of government schools in Chandigarh
Chandigarh, November 22
The UT Cadre Educational Employees Union has written to the Director, School Education, to close government schools on the lines of the Haryana Government amid rise in the number of Covid-19 cases in Chandigarh.
A meeting of union members was held today and various other issues were also discussed on the occasion. “Teachers are already working extra by taking both online and offline classes in the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The Education Department should promote deserving teachers to lecturers. The probation period of teachers inducted in 2015 should be cleared,” said Swaran Singh Kamboj on behalf of the union.
Union members also decided to extend their support to the UT Electricity Department employees, who are protesting against the privatisation of the department. — TNS
