The registration of the FIR in the Elante mishap case has been delayed further.

The police could not record the statement of victim Surbhi Jain, citing law and order duties on the Chandigarh-Mohali border in view of the march call given by the Qaumi Insaaf Morcha, claimed victim’s kin. A police officer, meanwhile, said Surbhi’s statement would be recorded on Wednesday morning after which an FIR would be registered.

Surbhi’s brother-in-law Atul said they were supposed to visit the Industrial Area Phase I police station, but were informed that the officers were occupied. “We were asked to come to the police station around 2 pm today, but when we contacted the police officer concerned, he said he was busy with the duty in view of the protest march,” Atul added.
