AKSIPS-45 Smart School, Chandigarh, organised a spate of activities to contribute towards nationwide ‘Swachh Bharat’ cleanliness campaign. Activities included poster-making, slogan writing, healthy hand wash, innovation projects, clean class competition and a special assembly on cleanliness were held. A special talk by a teacher on Swachh Bharat Vidyalaya was delivered. Interaction between school helpers and students was organised to spread awareness about cleanliness.

Gandhi Jayanti celebrated

Paragon Convent School celebrated Gandhi Jayanti today. The prayer started with a devotional song in remembrance of the legend. Mahatma Gandhi and his famous preaching of do not speak evil, don’t see evil and don’t hear evil was beautifully depicted by students. A student explained the contribution of Gandhi in the freedom struggle and how one can draw inspiration from his life.

St John’s High School

St. John’s High School, Sector 26, in continuation of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and also to honour Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary conducted a cleanliness drive at Attawa village. They worked with students of an NGO to better their communication skills. Carrying colorful charts, students endeavored to clean the roads and piles of garbage in the village. Principal Kavita Das expressed her pleasure at the initiative taken.

International Day of Older Persons

Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector-19 C celebrated International Day of Older Persons. Students took pledge in regard to respect elders in the family. Principal Sukhneer Sekhon sensitised students to respect elders from Man Vachan Karam.

GSSS, Dhanas

Government Senior Secondary School, Dhanas, celebrated International Day of Older Persons with great enthusiasm on the school campus. An impressive lecture on how to regard old age people was delivered in the morning assembly. Principal Harmeet Kaur appreciated the activities carried out during the programme.

Students of AKSIPS 41 Smart School paid rich tributes to Mahtama Gandhi on his birth anniversary. Many students read out articles written by them on various facets of his life. Students stressed on his meteoric rise from being a humble lawyer to the fore runner of India’s independence movement. Executive Director Jasdeep Kalra applauded the efforts made by students. Principal Jagjit Sekhon urged students to safeguard the principles for which Gandhi laid down his life.

DAV Model School

On the eve of birth anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri and Mahatma Gandhi, the NSS unit and peace club volunteers of DAV Model School, Sector-15 organised a cultural programme on the theme of non-violence and peace. The programme was inaugurated by principal Anuja Sharma by paying tribute to both the great personalities. Poems and bhajans were sung by students.

GMSSS-20

Students of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 20, celebrated NSS day and Gandhi Jayanti. Chief guest Captain Subhash Chand, regional director, NSS, Chandigarh, presented a motivating speech highlighting the vision of NSS and sacrifices of freedom fighters. Cultural programme was arranged by students. Speeches were given by the programme officer, principal and the NSS volunteers.

Awareness campaign

Panchkula: National awareness campaign against cancer was organised at St Xavier’s High School, Panchkula. A lecture was delivered by Sanjana Singh and Pratik Garg. Sanjana Singh made students aware about symptoms, types and prevention of cancer. They educated students on how tobacco, cigarettes and alcohol affect health.

Gandhi Jayanti

Shishu Niketan Public School, Mansa Devi Complex, Sector-5, Panchkula, students celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with great spirit and enthusiasm. Kindergarten students participated in a fancy dress competition and dressed as freedom fighters. A slogan writing competition was held to remember the principle of non-violence and Gandhi’s teachings.

Blue Bird High School

Blue Bird High School, Sector-16, Panchkula, school celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with great zeal and enthusiasm. A special assembly was conducted in which students paid homage to the father of nation. The assembly began with a speech on Lal Bahadur Shastri and Mahatma Gandhi. It was followed by a song in the form of an ode to the leaders. Clad in dresses depicting Mahatma Gandhi, students recited beautiful poems on him.

Satluj Public School

Students of Satluj Public School, Sector 4 here today took out a peace rally to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti. Studentsalso celebrated the occasion to give the message of Clean India and Clean School and World Peace. They were seen holding placards, as they passed from different parts of Sector 4 and 2.

The celebrations began with student’s messages on significance of the life of Mahatma Gandhi. Students sang songs and performed group dances. Social Studies Department conducted various competitions, e.g., quiz and debates. Students also visited Old Age Home in Sector 15, Panchkula, and gave sanitary products to the elders. Principal Krit Serai said, “Gandhi Jayanti is being dedicated to mass clean india campaign.

Football meet

An inter-house football tournament was held at St Mary’s School, Sector 46 B, Chandigarh, in which all the four houses of the school participated. In the Under-17 category, Gandhi house won the tournament and in the Under-14 category, Nehru House was declared the winner. Presence of chairman Rev Fr John K Jacob and principal MM Thomas boosted the moral of the teams. — TNS
