Education Dept comes out with schedule of sports trials

The UT Education Department today released the schedule of trials to be conducted to pick local teams for different sports disciplines. The trials will begin on September 26. The selected teams will represent the city in the 68th National School Games to be held at different venues across the nation.

As per the schedule, the trials for boys’ athletics (U-14, U-17, U-19) teams will be held on September 26 at the Sector 7 Sports Complex followed by the selection of girls’(U-14, U-17, U-19) teams at the same venue on September 27 (9 am).

The boys’ U-14 badminton team will be selected on September 26 at the Sector 27 Sports Complex, followed by selection of the U-17 team on September 28 and U-19 team on October 1 at the same venue (9 am). The girls’ U-14 badminton team will be selected on October 4, followed by the selection of U-17 team on October 7 and U-19 team on October 9 at the same venue.

The trials to select boys’ U-14 baseball team will be held on September 26 at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 37, while the U-17 team will be selected the next day and the U-19 squad on September 28. The girls’ U-14 baseball team will be selected on September 30, U-17 team on October 1 and U-19 team on October 3. The venue of the trials will be the Sector 37 school.

The boys’ U-14, U-17 and U-19 basketball teams will be selected on September 26, 27 and 28, respectively, at Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 36, while the girls’ U-14 team will be selected at the same venue on September 30, followed by selection of U-17 team on October 1 and U-19 on October 3 at the Sector 36 facility. The boys’(U-14, U-17, U-19) team will be selected on October 7 at the Sector 56 Sports Complex, whereas the girls’ (U-17, U-19) will be picked a day later.

The boys’ U-14 chess team will be shortlisted on September 26 at Government Girls Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 18, followed by the trials for choosing the U-17 team on September 27 and U-19 squad on September 28. The girls’ U-14 team will be selected on September 30, U-17 on October 1 and U-19 on October 3 at the same venue.

Trials to select boys’ U-14 cricket team will be held at SD Senior Secondary School, Sector 24, on September 26, followed by the selection of U-17 and U-19 teams on September 28 and October 3, respectively. The girls’ U-17 squad will be selected on September 26, at Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 32, and the U-19 team at the same venue on September 28.

The boys’ fencing teams for U-14, U-17 and U-19 categories will be selected on September 26, September 27 and September 28, respectively, at the GMSSS, Sector 10, whereas the girls’ U-14, U-17 and U-19 squads will be selected on September 30, October 1 and October 3, respectively.

The boys’ U-14 and U-19 football teams will be selected on September 26 and September 28, respectively, at the GMSSS, Sector 22, whereas the girls’ football U-14 and U-19 teams will be selected on October 1 and October 4, respectively.

Similarly, the U-14, U-17 and U-19 boys’ handball teams will be selected on September 26, September 27 and September 28, respectively, at Guru Nanak Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Sector 30, followed by the selection of girls’ U-14, U-17 and U-19 teams on September 30, October 1 and October 3, respectively.

All trials will take place at 9 am at their respective venues.
