Departments with fewer votes side with Anurag
It was not the deparment with highest number of voters, but the ones having less voters that pulled off the historic win of Anurag Dalal to the top post of the PUCSC.
While Anurag trailed from all three major departments, it was his Chemistry Department that helped him gain an important lead of 175 votes. He managed to secure 234 votes from the department where he is pursuing his PhD. His closest rival Prince Chaudhary of CYSS bagged just 59 votes from the department.
The story was no different in Botany Department from where the new PUCSC president got 90 votes, while Chaudhary trailed with 23. In Physics Department, Anurag got 145 votes and Chaudhary 60. The National Centre for Human Genome Studies gave 22 votes in Anurag’s favour while Chaudhary got only one. The English Department also picked Anurag with 79 votes over Chaudhary (21), while in Sanskrit Department, he won all seven votes. In UICET, Anurag secured 176 votes and Chaudhary was restricted to 126. At the Centre for Emerging Areas in Science & Technology, the NSUI rebel led with 44 votes as his rival got 20.
Out of total 59 departments, the CYSS led in 23. The UILS gave 426 votes to Anurag and 556 to Chaudhary. The former got 301 votes from UIET and the latter 464. In Department of Laws, Anurag managed to get 158 votes and Chaudhary 165. The University Institute of Applied Management too chose Chaudhary (158 votes) over Anurag (41).
