The department organised the first memorial lecture in honour of Professor Gopal Krishan, Professor Emeritus. Former Vice-Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover was the chief guest, and former Punjabi University, Patiala Vice-Chancellor Prof BS Ghuman delivered the memorial lecture on ‘Envisioning India as a Developed Nation from the Balanced Regional Development Perspective’. Ghuman said India is on the verge of becoming an economic superpower.
Department of Biochemistry, Chd
The department hosted an talk by Associate Professor and Fedoruk Chair in Imaging, Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences at the University of Sasketchewan, Canada Dr Gurpreet K Aulakh. The title of the talk was ‘Novel Immune Modulators of Acute Lung Inflammation’. The programme was supported by e DBT-Builder g grant sanctioned by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.
Chitkara University, Chandigarh
The two-day-long Grid Model United Nations (MUN 1.O), powered by Chitkara University, concluded at St. Joseph’s Senior School, Sector 44. The event witnessed delegates engaging in diplomatic debates and pressing for solutions to various global issues. Participants had researched their assigned countries and the designated topics for their committees. They debated on pre-assigned resolutions and drafted new ones, aiming to reach solutions through diplomacy and negotiation.

Sri Sukhmani Hospital of Ayurvedic Medicine and Research celebrated National Doctors Day. The faculty members acknowledged the dedication and hard work of doctors, especially in the field of Ayurvedic medicine, and emphasised the importance of holistic health care.
Chandigarh University, Mohali
Over 130 domain experts and professors from 90 universities from 32 countries are participating in the university’s 10-day International Faculty Development Programme (IFDP), with an inaugural ceremony attended by experts and hundreds of faculty members of the university. The eighth edition focused on sensitising the faculty about new concepts and methodologies in teaching and research, updating knowledge using modern information, and equipping them with the necessary skills.

The college commemorated Van Mahotsav 2024 under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign. Steel plates with QR codes for plant species were installed on the college campus with the aim of gaining insights on significant plant species and experiential learning about floral diversity.
