Dengue cases climb to 390 at Panchkula

The number of cases of dengue in Panchkula has reached 390, with the district health department recording on average 14 to 15 cases every day. The district health department has established over 65-70 beds specifically for dengue patients.

Officials at the health department said the number of dengue cases was increasing at a fast pace in the district. They said the department had recorded 212 cases as of September 3, and since then, the number has increased to 390 within 11 days.

Doctors at Sector 6 Civil Hospital said they have set up 65 to 70 beds specifically for dengue patients. A doctor said, “We have converted the private rooms and the skill lab into dengue wards. The patients are being given proper treatment at the wards. We have also streamlined the process of availing random donor platelets and single donor platelets from the blood bank. The SDP’s, which otherwise are priced at Rs 8,500 per unit, are available for dengue-positive patients residents

of Haryana.”

Doctors said the health department had been carrying out information and education activities at villages and colonies. They said the lab reports of suspected dengue patients are also being sought at the earliest to ensure they are provided the requisite treatment at the earliest.

Officials of the health department said a total of 372 cases were recorded by Saturday morning, of which 165 were from urban parts of the city, followed by 75 recorded in the area under Surajpur CHC, 54 in old Panchkula, 47 in Pinjore, 12 in Kalka, 5 each in Raipur Rani and Kot, 4 in Nanakpur, 3 in Morni, and 2 at Barwala.
