A dairy owner has been arrested by the Crime Branch of the UT police with 16.2 kg of poppy husk. The police also recovered Rs 6.70 lakh drug money from him.

Aslam, a resident of Milk Colony, Dhanas, was arrested on a tip-off. He failed to produce any licence or permit to carry the poppy husk.

A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against him.

Aslam runs a dairy and also operates an auto. The police claimed he was a drug addict and used the purchase the contraband from an unidentified person. “He sold drugs to people at a higher price,” said a police officer.

He was produced before the court and the Judge sent him to judicial custody.
