While speaking to The Tribune, she said, “Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, is a historical and cultural city with interesting architecture. Chandigarh was designed by the well-known French architect Le Corbusier and built in European style.”

She added that Prague and Chandigarh could create a multifaceted partnership that celebrates heritage, promotes innovation, and strengthens bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two cities and their residents.

She said the collaboration could take place in architectural heritage conservation, artistic residency, culinary exchanges, language exchange, environmental sustainability initiatives, sports and recreation exchange, youth engagement, and digital collaboration platforms.

In education, she said the cities could work on promoting student and faculty exchange, joint research projects, including tropical diseases, and other academic collaborations. “The students could spend a semester in Prague,” she added.

Consul of the Czech Republic for the states of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir Maj Guneet Chaudhary (retd), said, “To implement the proposals, there will be regular interaction with the Czech Republic’s consulate in the city and the Chandigarh Administration.”
