Cultural functions, performances and competitions marked the penultimate day of the three-day Rose Festival at Rose Garden in Sector 16 here today. Renowned singer Kanwar Grewal captivated the audience with a mesmerizing and soulful Sufi Nite.

Scan QR code to get info on flowers

  • QR codes have been introduced at the fest to provide information about different varieties of rose on display at the venue.
  • “It has been done to connect with visitors. The facility has been introduced since they cannot get details about all varieties easily at a time. By scanning the code with their phones, they will get to know all details about flowers,” said MC Commissioner Anindita Mitra.

The day was packed with a variety of competitions, including Rose Prince and Rose Princess competitions, photography competition, Mr Rose & and Miss Rose competitions, Rose King and Rose Queen (senior citizen) competitions and a quiz. The festival also featured a puppet show by artists from Delhi besides Rajasthani and Himachali dance performances.

Interactive stalls at the venue engage citizens through games, puzzles and tongue twisters conveying Swachhata messages. Additionally, 21 stalls dedicated to SHGs showcase a diverse range of sustainable products, including floral perfumes, herbal colours, candles, cloth bags, handicraft and handloom.

The fest offers a special attraction, “Zero Waste” Swachh Game Zone, which features Indian games and Swachhata-themed activities aimed at engaging citizens of all ages in promoting cleanliness and hygiene. In a game called Sortify, participants sort waste into dry, wet, sanitary and hazardous categories to ensure their proper disposal on the basis of colour designated for each category.
