Crafts Mela: Women band all set to steal the show
A special attraction of the Crafts Mela on Friday will be a live performance by Padma Shri recipient Mahabir Guddu. She will present Shiv Stuti (an invocation) along with Gulzar Ganei from Jammu and Kashmir and Chaman Lehri from Jammu.
There will be a power-packed singing by Nakkaals from Punjab, which will keep the audience hooked for hours.
Seeing the seamless enthusiasm among the local residents at the fair, the organisers have added new attractions to the annual feature. A women’s band performance has been conceptualised by Dr Kuldeep Sandhu, Anuradha Bhagat and Gurleen Kaur.
Sunday will roll out a flurry of performances by acclaimed artistes from various regions. Punjabi Sufi singer Mohammad Irshad will also showcase the magic of his melodious voice at the mela. A performance based on folk musical instruments by Prof Major Singh will be the spotlight of the evening on Saturday. The star singer will be Harbhajan Mann.
Sunday being the last day of the fair, the star attraction on the day will be Bollywood singer Amit Kumar.
The NZCC Director, Furqan Khan said along with the added attractions, the display of folk arts would continue throughout the day.
