A Chandigarh court has restrained Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia from making defamatory statements against Rajbir Singh, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The court’s interim injunction order came in response to a suit filed by Rajbir Singh, who alleged that Majithia’s false accusations had caused harm to his reputation and the Chief Minister’s Office.

Rajbir Singh specifically mentioned that Majithia levelled false allegations of transferring large sums of money through hawala transactions, an illegal foreign exchange market.

The court, after reviewing the evidence, including photographs, news articles, and social media posts, determined that Majithia’s actions warranted an ad-interim injunction. The defendants have been ordered to refrain from posting unverified and defamatory statements on social media. A notice has been issued to the defendants, with a hearing scheduled for November 16.
