Chandigarh Court acquits Jind native in drug case
Chandigarh, July 22
A local court has acquitted a resident of Jind, Sushil, arrested in a four-year-old NDPS case.
The police had arrested the accused on November 20, 2020, with 55 injections (23 injections of buprenorphine of 2 ml each and 32 injections of pheniramine maleate 10 ml each) during checking near the road bend of Sectors 40-C and D, Chandigarh. The accused reportedly failed to produce any permit or licence for the injections.
After investigation the police filed a chargesheet against the accused. Vivek Kathuria, counsel for the accused, said the accused had been falsely implicated in the case. He said the injections were deposited with the CFSL on November 24, 2020, but witnesses said the parcel was taken to the CFSL on November 23, 2020.
The constable who was member of the police party which apprehended the accused did not say in his statement about the arrest of accused or recovery of injections. He said the FIR was registered at 10.01 pm, whereas the case property parcel was deposited at the police malkhana at 9.38 pm.
After hearing the arguments the court acquitted the accused.
