Ward No. 34 councillor Gurpreet Singh Gabi today met UT Adviser Rajeev Verma and brought his attention to various issues in his ward. He particularly emphasised problems related to parking and safety.

Gabi informed the Adviser about the difficulties faced by the Sector 45 residents due to Kesho Ram Market in Burail. He said that traders and visitors park their vehicles on the Sector 45 side, leading to traffic jams on V5 and V6 roads. To resolve the parking issue, he proposed building a multi-level parking facility on the vacant land owned by the Administration. He said that he managed to get a parking area constructed in Sector 45-D, but it was insufficient.

Gabi also requested the installation of CCTV cameras as criminal activities had increased in the area. He drew attention to the need for slip roads to ease traffic flow. He pointed out that ambulance movement to the Civil Hospital in Sector 45 was often obstructed, posing a risk to patients’ lives.

He further requested fencing of the mandi ground in Sector 45-D to curb illegal activities and proposed declaring some areas in Sectors 45-A, B, C and D as tow-away zones.

Gabi reiterated the demand for a synthetic track in Sector 46 at the sports complex. While he managed to get an estimate for the track approved, the MC had been unable to complete it due to financial constraints. He sought administrative help to benefit both sports enthusiasts and senior citizens.

He also raised the long-standing issue of door-to-door garbage collection in Burail. Residents there are forced to dump garbage in adjoining sectors, including the forest land near Sector 45, which has turned into a garbage dump.

Gabi mentioned that the iron grills in this area had been stolen and despite repeated complaints had not been replaced. He criticized the environmental department for neglecting the forest land.
