Cops nab 2 for killing man, injuring another in Dhakoli
The police arrested Mani Majra resident Sonu, 19, and Delhi resident Varun Rai, 29, for allegedly stabbing a Dhakoli man, Dilawar Singh, to death and injuring another with a knife in Zirakpur on Friday. The police recovered the knife and the two-wheeler used by the accused in the crime.
Zirakpur SHO Jaskanwal Singh Shekhon said, “Accused Sonu had seen his female friend with Dilawar Singh a few days ago, after which he had developed enmity with him. Dilawar died, while Shubham was left seriously injured after the two were attacked by armed assailants in Zirakpur during the wee hours of November 22. Dilawar and his friend Shubham were coming from a filling station in Baltana when the two assailants came from behind and blocked their way. They attacked the victims with swords and knives on their chests, leaving them seriously injured. The accused then fled. The victims tried to drive the two-wheeler they were on to reach safety but fell down on the road.”
Zirakpur DSP Jaspinder Singh Gill said, “The police reached the spot and took them to a hospital where Dilawar died. We solved the blind murder within 24 hours.”
The dead body was handed over to the kin after a post-mortem examination. The deceased was a daily wager. He is survived by his wife and a seven-year-old daughter.
A case under Sections 103, 109, 115 (2), 126 (2), and 3 (5) of the BNS was registered at the Zirakpur police station on November 22.
