Karnataka claimed a 139-run lead as Chandigarh boys strengthened their position in the Cooch Behar Trophy match at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 26. In reply to Chandigarh’s 272, Karnataka were all out for 99 as Girish Khatri (5/38) inflicted maximum damage on the visitors.

Jayant Vashisht (3/31) took a hat-trick, while Markandey Panchal clinched two wickets for the hosts.

After getting the 173-run lead, the host bowlers restricted the visitors to 312/8 at stumps, as the latter were made to follow-on.

Panchal (4/52), Ishan (2/84) and Khatri (2/112) were the wicket takers. Skipper Dheeraj Gowda (75 off 79 balls, with 10 boundaries and two sixes) and Manikant Shivanand (65 of 104 balls, with seven boundaries) were the major run scorers for the side. Karthikeya KP scored 41 off 67 balls, with four boundaries and one six, and Hardik Raj remained unbeaten at 43 off 41 balls.
