Complete Sec 26 mandi works in stipulated time, officials told

Ensuring a better environment for traders and visitors alike, UT Agriculture Secretary Hari Kallikkat has issued directions to complete all pending road repairs and drainage system maintenance at Sector-26 mandi within a stipulated time frame.

The directions were issued after Kallikkat chaired a meeting, which was attended by the administrator of the Market Committee, Joint Secretary of the State Agricultural Marketing Board and officials from the Engineering Department, Marketing Board and Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh.

He also directed close monitoring of sanitation efforts by private contractor to deliver improved services to the mandi. In terms of revenue, the Market Committee reported an increase of Rs 1.64 crore in receipts for the current financial year compared to the same period last year.
