College notes: PGGC, Sector 11
The National Service Scheme (NSS) Volunteers of the Post Graduate Government College, Sector 11, organised a clothes distribution drive in the slum area of Sector 39. The initiative aimed to provide essential clothing items to the underprivileged residents of the area. The drive was organised to promote social awareness and community service among NSS volunteers and to foster a sense of social responsibility among the youth for supporting the underprivileged.
Chitkara University
Chitkara University's department of fashion design, Chitkara Design School, organised the "EMERGE Graduate Fashion Show 2024", giving students a chance to showcase their creativity and innovation. The event featured 11 curated student collections, ranging from knitwear, zero-waste designs, and heritage Indian textiles to fusion wear and others. Dr Pro-chancellor Madhu Chitkara spoke about the importance of nurturing creativity and innovation in fashion. Anshika Gupta won the best graduate collection award.
CGC, Mohali
Chandigarh Group of College, Mohali, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Waqar Khan as the brand ambassador for the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Khan celebrated for his artistic brilliance and deep-rooted connection to the culture of Jammu and Kashmir embodies the values.
School Notes
St Joseph’s School, Sector 44
St Joseph's Senior Secondary School, Sector 44, organised Rhythmic Beats 2024, a cultural event featuring performances by kindergarten students. Shipra Bansal, CCPCR chairperson, was the chief guest. Guardians of the Rivers highlighted water conservation through a charming performance, while Japanese Culture offered a glimpse into Japan's rich heritage.
Carmel Convent School
Carmel Convent School organized its Kindergarten Sports Day, seeing enthusiastic participation from students. The chief guest, Arjuna Awardee shooter Anjum Moudgil, declared the sports meet open by releasing balloons to symbolise the free spirit of a child, and the students of upper kindergarten girls marched with the squad flags.
St Xavier's High School
An inter-house Science-Social Science Quiz Competition was organised at St Xavier's High School, Panchkula. Students of different Classes 6-9 participated with full enthusiasm and audience enjoyed the quiz thoroughly.
Satluj Public School, Sector 2
Satluj Public School, Sector 2, organised its annual Satluj Athlos. A march-past featured six houses representing Punjab, Haryana, Assam, Kerala, Kashmir, and Andhra Pradesh was organised. Various events including, cycle rally by pre-primary students, drills, 100m races, and the lighting of the torch were held.
Manav Rachna International
Manav Rachna International School organised Abhinandan, a meet-and-greet session, which commenced with an address by the director-principal, Dhriti Malhotra. She welcomed the parents and held an interactive session on communication. Children thoroughly enjoyed various activities.
Delhi Public School, Sector 40
Delhi Public School, Sector 40, organised a field show, "Aarogyam - Nurturing Health", for Classes 7 and 8. Dedicated to total wellness of students, parents and the community, the event also included the annual prize distribution ceremony to mark the excellence in academics, sports and extra-curricular. Nearly 550 students participated in the event.
