College notes: Chitkara University
Chitkara University’s department of fashion design, Chitkara Design School, organised the “EMERGE Graduate Fashion Show 2024”, giving students a platform to showcase their talent. The event featured 11 curated student collections. Pro-Chancellor Madhu Chitkara spoke about the importance of nurturing creativity and innovation in fashion. She said students are also being trained to keep sustainability in mind.
Aryan Group of Colleges
With the aim to create awareness about sustanability and the importance of preserving nature, a seminar, “Understanding Your Prakriti: Ayurveda’s Guide to Holistic Wellness”, was held at Aryans Group of Colleges. Dr. Ragesh of the department of Toxicology, Dr. Mukta Bawa of the department of Physiology, Pranay, Dhanwantry Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital, interacted with the students.
CGC, Jhanjeri
The Regional and Facilitation Center, North India-1, the National Medicinal Plants Board (Ministry of AYUSH), Jogindernagar, the Rural Development Department, National Institute of Technical Teachers Training & Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh, and the Department of Environment and Forests, Chandigarh administration jointly oragnised a two-day training and environment awareness programme. Under the campaign, 200,000 plants were be distributed to local residents.
CGC, Landran
Four CGC Landran teams, Code Crusher, Kalki Coders, Innovate’X and Rudraksha, were selected to compete at the national-level finale of the 7th Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2024. Students from the Mechanical Engineering (ME), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Computer Science Engineering (CSE) streams will get a chance to showcase their creative solutions to problem statements.
SSDCH, Dera Bassi
Sri Sukhmani Dental College and Hospital, Dera Bassi, organised a Continuing Dental Education (CDE) programme on AIDS and its implications in dentistry. The event was held under the guidance of principal Dr Ramandeep Kaur Sohi. Dr Kiran Chhabra, the guest speaker, emphasised the importance of spreading awareness about AIDS and its implications among both students and teachers.

KB DAV, Sector 7
KB DAV Senior Secondary Public School, Sector 7, staged its second theatre production, “The Sound of Music - The Musical”. The play, which reasserted that dreams are to be lived and believed also featured a choir. TC Nautiyal, Director, Environment and Chief Conservator of Forest attended the event.
Delhi Public, School 40
Delhi Public School, Sector 40, organised a field show and carnival, “ToonTrek – Tooning into Life Lessons”, showcasing the artistic talents of Classes III and !v students. Vibrant performances conveying invaluable life lessons on friendship, togetherness, overcoming challenges and positivity marked the show.
St Mary’s, Sector 46
St Mary’s School, Sector 46, celebrated its annual day-cum-prize distribution function, “Aarangam 2024”. Pro-tem principal Surekha Verma presented the annual report. The cultural programme featured cultural performances based on thought-provoking ideas.
Paragon School, Sector 71
Paragon Kids and Paragon Senior Secondary School, Sector 71, organised their 38th Mega Annual Show. Chief guest, District Education Officer Ginni Duggal inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp. It featured performances by the young students on the theme “Retro to Metro”. The children brought back the music, dance and costumes from the 70s and 80s through their pefromances.

Gillco International School, in collaboration with RoboChamps, organised a 10-day “Let’s Talk Education” event. It brought together a diverse group of educators, school leaders, and students fropm 10 schools across 10 cities to re-imagine the future of education, delve into innovative teaching strategies and celebrate exemplary leadership in the education sector..
Ankur School, Sector 14
Ankur School, Sector 14, organised a special assembly celebrating “Harmony of Languages” under the Bhasha Utsav celebrations. The event was designed to promote unity, respect and appreciation for India’s linguistic diversity. School principal, staff and students paid tributes to Tamil poet and freedom fighter Subramania Bharati.
Kids-R-Kids, Sector 42
The students of Kids-R-Kids, Sector 42, went on a supermarket visit, being taken through different sections to have discussions about the things they saw. Teachers taught them about the classification of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items by identifying the red and green dot on the packets and the concept of buying products, checking the expiry date amd the fucntioning of the billing counter.
