College notes: CGC, Jhanjeri
The 7th Smart India Hackathon 2024 was organised by Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri. The competition featured 17 different themes, with 144 participants from 24 teams from colleges and universities of Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar and Gujarat competing in a challenging 36-hour technical battle. The teams competed to solve five well-crafted real-world problem statements. The challenges were designed to test the creativity, technical expertise and problem-solving skills of the participants, especially in the field of software development.
Chitkara University, Mohali
Chitkara University hosted “Rangrezz 2024” — The National Theatre Fest with the theme “Zikr—The Language of Memories, The Stage of Expressions”. The festival commenced with an inaugural session by Dr Madhu Chitkara, Pro-Chancellor, and Chief Guest Subodh Poddar, a renowned advertising and film director. In the street play category, Rajdhani College, New Delhi, won the first prize, followed by Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, New Delhi, and Azeez Arts, Punjab. Shyam Lal College, New Delhi, received a consolation prize. In stage play, Panjab University bagged the top spot, followed by Halkara Theatre Group, Kurukshetra, and Prayas Theatre Group, Kaithal, and Maskhare Theatre Group, Haryana, receiving a consolation prize.
Desh Bhagat University, Chandigarh
The ADR Centre, Legal Aid Cell, and Probono Legal Service Club of the University School of Law, Desh Bhagat University, organised a legal awareness camp on “Legal Aid Awareness on Consumer Protection Law: Procedure for Filing the Complaint”. Dr Arti, camp’s coordinator, explained the key aspects of filing a consumer complaint and the comprehensive redressal mechanisms under the Consumer Protection (Amendment) Act. A group of 40 students participated in the event.
Aryans College of Law, Mohali
Law students of Aryans College of Law brought laurels to the college in the second semester examinations conducted by Punjabi University, Patiala. In BA-LLB, Khushboo bagged first position with 71 per cent, followed by Anjali who secured second position, and Navjot at third position. Principal Davinder Kumar Singla congratulated the students and faculty.
