Addressing the gathering, the Mayor said it would present a permanent solution to the problem of standing water outside the Civil Hospital and Government College in Phase 6.

He said the choe drains the water from Sector 70 and 71, Mataur village, Phase V and Phase 3B2. Also the water from the industrial area goes into choe, he said.

In order to drain the water from the choe, cleaning work is being expedited by installing JCB machines, Sidhu said.

The Mayor said work of cleaning drains was going on at a fast pace in Mohali and all the Congress councilors were reviewing the drainage work in their respective wards and providing him the reports.

He said on the basis of these reports, all efforts were being made to alleviate the problem of waterlogging in all wards.
