The Chandigarh Beopar Mandal (CHB) has expressed gratitude to the Union Finance Minister for deferring increase in GST rates on fabric from 5 per cent to 12 per cent, which was supposed to be implemented January 1, 2022.
Charanjiv Singh, president, CBM, said thousands of cloth merchants would heave a sigh of relief.

Ram Karan Gupta, chairman of the GST sub-committee, CBM, said they demanded reduction in VAT rates on footwear and readymade garments as well.
Kamaljit Singh Panchi, president, Chandigarh Traders Association, Sector 17, said it was a relief for traders of the country.— TNS
