City archers bagged laurels at the SGFI 68th National School Games held in Nadiad, Gujarat. Ajinkya Jatwani of St John’s High School, Sector 26, won a gold medal and a bronze. He also won the overall bronze medal in the recurve category.

Jiana Kumar of Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Sector 26, won two gold medals and a bronze and a silver in the girls’ category. She was adjudged the National School Games champion and won the overall gold medal in the recurve category. The archers gave credit to their coach Anurag Kamal, under whom they train at GKM Archery Academy.

Meanwhile, the Chandigarh girls’ team comprising Jiana Kumar, Japman Kaur Bhuller, Dia Sharma, Harshita and Mehakpreet Kaur won the girls state overall runners-up trophy. — TNS
