In an effort to compete with private players in tourism industry, the Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation (CITCO) has planned a new marketing policy during its board meeting today. The board, chaired by CITCO Chairman Ajay Chagti, reviewed a strategic shift aimed at enhancing service quality and profitability at CITCO properties.

During the meeting, members raised concerns about CITCO’s declining hotel occupancy and the corresponding impact on revenue. The corporation’s officers recently returned from Kerala, where they studied successful tourism models and presented their findings to the board. Drawing from Kerala’s tourism strategies, CITCO intends to introduce a competitive marketing policy to position itself better in the market.

A significant initiative is about improving guest experience through upgraded services at CITCO hotels. The board emphasised the importance of integrating guest feedback from social media to gauge satisfaction and address service quality. Additionally, the sales team will now manage the distribution of rates and discounts, allowing them to adjust pricing based on seasonal demand.

The board has also approved the renovation of rooms at both Hotel Mountview in Sector 10 and Hotel Shivalikview in Sector 17.
