Chess tourney: Pack of 4 leads in girls’ category

In an interesting turn of events, Narahari Geethika Hasini of Telangana, Tejaswini G of Tamil Nadu, Patil Divya of Maharashtra and Kirthika B of Telangana ended up being the pack of leaders with a score of eight points each after the end of round 10 during the ongoing 34th National Under-17 Open and Girls Chess Championship being held at the Panjab University.
The pack is closely followed by Kerala’s Anupam M Sreekumar and Sravya Sree Bheemarashetty of Andhra Pradesh, who scored 7½ points each. Sherali Pattnaik from Uttarakhand, Sneha Halder of West Bengal and Cera Dagariya from Madhya Pradesh were also in contention with seven points each.
Kale Shruti (Maharashtra), Maitreyi Mondal (West Bengal), Krishika Garg (Delhi), Anushka Bapu Kutwal (Maharashtra), Rajanya Datta (West Bengal), Theephigaa KP (Tamil Nadu), Aamuktha Guntaka (Andhra Pradesh), Sinthia Sarkar (West Bengal), Sindhusree K (Tamil Nadu), Padmini S (Tamil Nadu), Sagar Siya (Gujarat), Drishtee Ghosh (Karnataka) and Shanmathi Sree S(Tamil Nadu) all scored 6½ points each.

Meanwhile, in the open category, Sriram Adarsh Uppala of Telangana maintained his lead at the end of round 10. Uppala led the table with nine points. He was closely followed by Kerala’s Arpith S Bijoy, who ended up with 8½ points. Jaiveer Mahendru of Maharashtra, Mukund Hemant Aggarwal of Gujarat and Puneet Verma of Punjab were at joint third position with eight points each. This championship is being hosted by Chandigarh Chess Association and a total of 325 players are participating in this event.
