New OPD timings of Chandigarh hospitals
Chandigarh: The OPD timings of Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16, Chandigarh, and its allied dispensaries, including Ayush, the Civil Hospital, Mani Majra, the Civil Hospital, Sector 22, and the Civil Hospital, Sector 45, except the ESI, Sector 29, the ESI, Sector 23, the Punjab and Haryana Secretariat and the High Court dispensaries will be as under:
April 16 to Oct 15: 8 am to 2 pm
Egg, meat shops closed
Mohali: District Magistrate Amit Talwar has issued orders to close meat and egg shops, and abattoirs on April 14 on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti. Talwar said killing animals on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti could hurt the religious sentiments of the Jain community. Therefore, keeping in view the religious harmony and the faith of the general public, the sale of eggs and meat had been banned on April 14 in the district in meat and egg shops and hotels. TNS
3 nailed with 10 mobile phones
Zirakpur: The police arrested three suspects and recovered 10 snatched mobile phones from them in Dhakoli on Wednesday. The suspects have been identified as Trivedi Camp resident Ajay Kumar, Mubarikpur resident Nikhil Pahwa and Bhankharpur resident Ajay Kumar, alias Ajju. On a statement of Dhakoli resident Nishi Sharma, the police arrested the three suspects and recovered three phones from them. On further questioning, seven more phones were recovered from them. TNS
Hotel employee robbed, 3 held
Chandigarh: Three miscreants, who had stabbed a hotel employee and robbed him of his mobile phone, have been arrested. The victim, Mohan, was returning home on a bicycle on the intervening night of April 11 and 12 when the robbers stabbed and robbed him near the Sector 19/27/20/30 chowk before fleeing on a motorcycle. A case was registered. During the investigation, a police team nabbed the suspects, identified as Suraj (18), Govind (21) and Savej (18), all residents of New Indira Colony, Mani Majra. TNS
Youth arrested in arms case
Chandigarh: A 26-year-old youth has been arrested while possessing pistol and cartridges. According to the police, the suspect, identified as Karan, a resident of Kajheri village, was nabbed near a petrol pump in Sector 52, while possessing a country-made pistol and ten live cartridges. A case has been registered under the Arms Act at the Sector 36 police station. TNS

Chandigarh: An unknown person snatched a mobile phone from a Maloya resident. On a complaint of Anurag, a case has been registered. TNS

Hockey trials on April 15
Chandigarh: Hockey Chandigarh will organise trials to select men’s sub-junior team on April 15 at the Sector 42 Sports Complex (2pm). The selected team will represent the city in the 12th Hockey India Sub Junior Men National Championship to be held at Goa from May 4 to 15.
