  • The advisory issued by the MC asked people to report issues such as fallen trees, waterlogging or damage to public infrastructure to the helpline number 112 for prompt action.
  • MC Commissioner Anindita Mitra urged all citizens to heed the advisory and take necessary precautions to stay safe during the rainy season.

MC Commissioner Anindita Mitra said the safety of citizens was of utmost importance, especially during the challenging rainy season. The advisory outlined crucial precautions and steps that every citizen should take to protect themselves, their property and the community.

The advisory asked people to steer clear of waterlogged areas and underpasses to prevent the risk of electric shocks and other hazards, remain indoors during heavy rain to minimise the chances of accidents caused by slippery roads, falling trees and other hazards, and secure personal property, including windows, doors, and loose items, to prevent damage due to strong winds. People have also been advised to drive cautiously, avoid flooded roads and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles besides staying away from electricity poles, wires and equipment, and reporting any fallen or exposed electrical wires to the authorities immediately.
