All-rounder Nikhil Kumar has been picked by the BCCI’s Junior Selection Committee in the Indian U-19 squad for the upcoming Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Men’s U- 19 Asia Cup 2024, commencing from November 29, at UAE. India is placed in Group A which includes Pakistan, Japan and hosts the UAE wherein a total of eight countries are participating in the tournament. India will start its campaign against Pakistan. India is a strong contender in the tournament for being the eight time champion. The team will leave on November 25.

Nikhil, a class XII student of Saupin’s School, Sector 32, has been selected on the basis of his domestic and international performance in the recent months. Kumar had performed brilliantly against the Australia U-19 team in three ODIs and two tests held in Chennai and Puducherry. He scored an unbeaten 55 and helped the team win a thrilling match by two wickets. Nikhil also scored 61 in the second test. Earlier, during the NCA camp held at Ahmedabad, Kumar scored 124 in four matches and took nine wickets in the Inter NCA One Day Cricket Tournament. His performance in the U-23 format at the UTCA domestic season has also been commendable. He scored 236 in four matches. Meanwhile, UTCA’s president Sanjay Tandon congratulated Kumar.
