Chandigarh: Congress leaders protest summoning of Rahul by ED
Chandigarh, June 13
The city Congress today staged a peaceful dharna in front of the office of the Enforcement Directorate, Sector 18, alleging “a blatant misuse” of the law enforcement agencies by the BJP-led Union Government and unnecessary summoning of party leader Rahul Gandhi by the Enforcement Directorate, New Delhi, in the National Herald case.
Speaking on the occasion, Harmohinder Singh Lucky, newly nominated president of the Chandigarh Congress, alleged the Modi government had miserably failed to manage the economy of the country. As a result of this, people are forced to bear extreme hardships in their daily life, he said.
“The Modi government is now trying to implicate Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in a false case, just to divert the attention of the people from his total failure on all fronts. The summoning of Rahul Gandhi by the ED is petty vendetta politic,” he alleged.
Those who participated in the dharna included the presidents and activists of the Mahila Congress, Youth Congress, Sewa dal and members and office-bearers of the Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Commmittee, and the district and block Congress committees. The participants, carrying placards denouncing the “anti-people policies” of the Modi government, shouted slogans.
