Campus notes: Govt Education College
A poetry recitation competition in Hindi language was organised under the Hindi Day celebrations at the Government Education College, Sector 20. Principal Dr Sapna Nanda started the programme with Swasti Vachan and Saraswati Vandana. Dr Ajay Kumar Srivastava, coordinator of the programme and college dean, welcomed the audience and highlighted the importance of Hindi language. In the competition, a total of 16 BEd and MEd students recited poems on various subjects in Hindi.
Dev Samaj College, Chandigarh
NSS units and vada club of Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector 36, organised a seminar on ‘understanding drugs and addiction’. Dr Abhimanyu Rampal, director, Mehar Foundation, was the resource person. The primary objective of this lecture was to raise awareness among the prospective teachers. The interactive session allowed participants to pose questions, fostering a dynamic exchange.
Sri guru gobind singh college
Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector 26, commemorated World Ozone Day and Poshan Maah by organising a visit to Manuali, the college’s adopted village. Eco-scouts and NSS volunteers of the college informed the students of Government Senior Secondary School, Manuali, about the phasing out of ozone-depleting substances (ODS), the reduction of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and climate change. Poster-making competition and pledge taking ceremony were organised to promote a sustainable future and Ozone layer protection.
Govt College of Commerce
The Department of Social Welfare, Chandigarh Administration, in collaboration with the gender sensitisation society ‘JAGRITI’ at the Government College of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector 50, hosted an awareness session on the challenges and rights of transgender individuals. The session featured Amit, a distinguished counsellor from the Transgender Protection Cell of the Transgender Welfare Board, UT Chandigarh, as the guest speaker.
PUNJAB ENGINEERING COLLEGE
The Rotaract Club of Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University) organised its Installation Ceremony 2024-25, titled ‘Prastavana.’ The ceremony commenced with Saraswati Vandana and the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. A video showcasing the activities of the Rotary Club was also presented. DDR Rotarian, Shashank Kaushik, along with his council members, pinned the incoming president of the PEC Rotaract Club, Himanshu Hooda.
Plaksha University
Plaksha University signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Penn Engineering, one of the 12 schools within the University of Pennsylvania, a member of the Ivy League and one of the oldest universities in the United States. The agreement outlines several key areas of collaboration, including the exchange of faculty, researchers and students to facilitate joint research and academic activities.
Post Graduate govt college
A fresher’s party was organised for the students of BA, BCom, BBA and BCA I of Post Graduate Government College Sector 46. The event marked the official welcome for the incoming batch of students. Prof JK Sehgal, principal, addressed the students. He further motivated the students to embrace the challenges with a positive attitude and determination. The event witnessed lively performances like songs, ramp walk, fusion dance, modelling and others.
