Bus overturns, 6 passengers hurt

A private bus carrying 46 passengers overturned near the grain market, Sector 39, here around 4.30 am on Monday. The bus was going from Katra to Delhi when the driver reportedly lost control while trying to avoid a car that suddenly came on the road.

According to eyewitnesses and statements of passengers, the bus driver swerved in the opposite direction in an attempt to avoid a collision with a car that came in front of the vehicle suddenly, and overturned, leading to panic among passengers.

About five to six passengers who sustained injuries were taken to a nearby hospital. Fortunately, there were no casualty and the injuries were not serious in nature.

The police arrived at the spot shortly after the accident and launched an investigation. The authorities are working to determine whether there was any negligence of the driver involved. — TNS
