Youth arrested with knife

A 24-year-old youth has been arrested by the UT police for carrying a knife. Vishal, alias Vishu, a resident of Phase III, Bapu Dham Colony, was arrested near Timber Market, Sector 26. A case under the Arms Act has been registered at the Sector 26 police station.

Woman duped by fraudster

A fraudster has duped a woman of Rs 27,000. The victim, a resident of Industrial Area, reported that the fraudster tricked her into transferring money. A case has been registered at the cybercrime police station.

Employee electrocuted

A substation attendant was electrocuted after coming in contact with 66kV cables at the Phase 7 Industrial Area around 10 am today. The victim, Pardeep Kumar (33), was a resident of Ghanauli. Officials of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited said the incident took place during the changeover of the isolator. The victim was rushed to the hospital where the doctors declared him dead on arrival. Meanwhile, Pardeep’s colleagues said he was under stress for the past sometime as he was having a marital discord.
