The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday announced to establish a film city equipped with modern facilities in Panchkula. To make Panchkula a smart city, the party promised to develop it as a hub of education and set up a forensic science university in its manifesto.

The document was released by BJP Panchkula candidate Gian Chand Gupta, party district president Deepak Sharma and others.

Gupta released the manifesto and assured to rename the railway station as Chandigarh-Panchkula railway station. Gupta said on the lines of Sector 9 street vendor market, permanent booths will be provided to street vendors in Sector 7, 11 and Sector 17.

He promised the construction of a dhobi ghat, IT Park and Data Centre in Panchkula along with development of an industrial estate to encourage industries in Barwala area.

The BJP has also assured to make Panchkula slum-free through rehabilitation of residents to pukka houses, end encroachment and increase green cover.
