Awareness week: Staff of Chandigarh Secretariat, civic body take integrity pledge
In compliance with the recommendation of the Central Vigilance Commission, the UT Administration organised the oath ceremony on the first day of the Vigilance Awareness Week, which is being observed from October 28 to November 3 on the theme of ‘Culture of Integrity for Nation’s Prosperity’.
The week is an awareness building and outreach measure which brings together all stakeholders to create greater sensitivity about the need for ethics and transparency in governance and public administration.
Officials of UT Secretariat took integrity pledge in the presence of UT Adviser Rajeev Verma, to be vigilant and remain committed to the highest standards of honesty and integrity at all times and support the fight against corruption. Mandip Singh Brar, Home Secretary, Prerna Puri, Secretary Education, Ajay Chagti, Secretary Personnel, Abhijit Chaudhari Secretary Vigilance were also present.
Meanwhile, Gurinder Singh Sodhi, Joint Commissioner, MC, administered oath to all MC employees in the MC building, Sector 17. They pledged to be vigilant and commit to highest standards of honesty and integrity at all times and support the fight against corruption.
PEC, PU hold signature campaign, events
Punjab Engineering College (deemed to be university), Chandigarh, marked the beginning of Vigilance Awareness Week by taking the integrity pledge today. The pledge was led by Prof Rajesh Kumar Bhatia, Director, PEC, and was joined by Col RM Joshi, Registrar, along with all heads of the departments and the faculty members.
To further promote the spirit of integrity, a signature campaign has been initiated across various locations on the campus, allowing participants to express their commitment to a corruption-free environment. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof Balwinder Singh.
Various departments of the Panjab University, including Dr Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital, Department of Education, Department of Library and Information Science, Department-cum-Centre for Women’s Studies, Centre for Distance and Online Education, Departments of Gandhian Studies and Political Science and the UIFT organised awareness programmes, poster-making competition, events, pledges, etc. to mark the week.
At PU, the integrity pledge was administered by Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of the university Geeta Bansal. At the Dr Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital, the day began with a poster-making competition on the theme. Dental institute students spread awareness through creative performances, including a ‘nukkad natak’ and a flash mob at the Student Centre.
To commemorate the occasion, students of Department-cum-Centre for Women’s Studies recited poems focusing on curbing the menace of corruption.
