Chandigarh opener Mohammed Arsalan Khan scored a brilliant 107 off 57 balls to help Chandigarh register a nine-wicket convincing win over Chhattisgarh in the ongoing league match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, in Vizag .

This is Chandigarh’s third win in four matches. Earlier, they won the toss and invited the opposition team to bat. The city bowlers were right on target, as they reduced Chhattisgarh to 106 in 12 overs. However, skipper Amandeep Khare (62) steered his team to a respectable score of 176/9 in the stipulated 20 overs. Jagjit Sandhu (5/38) was the pick of the bowlers, while Nishank Birla (2/22) also clinched wickets for the bowling side.

In reply, Chandigarh had a disappointing start with the dismissal of Manan Vohra (6). Later, Shivam Bhambri joined Khan for an unbeaten 139-run partnership. Khan scored 107 with the help of 11 boundaries and seven sixes, while Shivam Bhambri also added 62 off 36 balls, studded with four boundaries and four sixes. Chandigarh surpassed the target in the 17th over. They will play its fifth match against Railways on December 3.

UT eves lose to Karnataka

Chandigarh girls faced their biggest defeat in the Women’s One Day Tournament being held in Dehradun against Karnataka. Batting first, Chandigarh collapsed at 100 with Dakshita (32) scoring the major share. In reply, the opening pair of Lyank Shetty (47) and Rohini (42) scored runs to hand over a 10-wicket defeat to Chandigarh.

Cooch Behar Trophy

Delhi took a strong lead of 200 runs over Chandigarh on the second day in the Cooch Behar Trophy match at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi. After bundling out Chandigarh at 168, the hosts scored 368 runs in their first innings. Arnav Bugga (93), Atulya (68) and Manthan (57) scored half centuries. Vashisht and Ishan took three wickets each. Chandigath boys were struggling at 35/5 at the draw of the stumps. Laxman took three wickets for the bowling side. The local lads are still trailing by 165 runs.
