Amit Shah in Chandigarh today for conclave on drugs
Chandigarh, July 29
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be in the city on Saturday to inaugurate a national conference on drug trafficking and national security at Punjab Raj Bhawan.
The Chief Ministers of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, UT Administrator, officers from the BSF, NIA and NCB as well as police chiefs of the respective states and Narco Coordination Centre members will also be present.
This is the first such national conference where the Union Home Minister, Chief Ministers of different states and the different drugs enforcement agencies will all be on one platform.
After the conference, Shah will meet the Chief Ministers, Punjab Governor-cum-UT Administrator, Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor, Chief Secretaries and Director Generals of Police of Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and J&K.
After the conference, Shah will inaugurate three government school buildings at Mauli Jagran and lay the foundation stone for a multi-level parking adjoining the District Courts Complex in Sector 43. The State Environment Impact Assessment Authority has issued the environment clearance for the establishment of the parking.
The UT had approved a proposal to set up a multilevel parking to accommodate 1,278 vehicles. This complex will have one basement and three floors. There will be provision for parking vehicles on the terrace too.
Later, Shah will attend ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ and ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ events at Sukhna Lake before leaving for New Delhi. On his previous visit to Chandigarh on March 27, Shah had inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for various projects.

- After reaching the airport, Shah will proceed to Punjab Raj Bhawan to unveil a national conference on drug trafficking and national security
- He will later unveil 3 government school buildings at Mauli Jagran and lay foundation stone for a multi-level parking at District Courts Complex, Sector 43
- Shah will attend ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ and ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ events at Sukhna Lake before leaving for New Delhi
