Active Covid cases cross 300-mark in Chandigarh; no death since Feb 26, hospitalisation low
Chandigarh, June 19
Covid-19 is spreading with each passing day and the active caseload has already crossed the 300-mark in the city. The city has already recorded 523 fresh cases this month.
On Sunday, the city recorded 73 fresh cases, taking the active caslod to 322. The positivity rate stood at 6 per cent in the city. Eighteen patients are admitted to city hospitals, of whom four are at the PGI, four at the GMCH, Sector 32, and 10 patients at the GMSH, Sector 16.
The silver lining is that there has been no Covid death in the city since February 26 this year. The hospital admissions also remain low this time despite the surge in cases. The bed occupancy had slightly increased in the past couple of days, but is nearly stagnant at 18-20 patients now.
Among the admitted patients, a majority have mild symptoms and they do not have an isolation facility at home. Some elderly or comorbid patients with low oxygen saturation rate have also been admitted to the Covid block at the PGI.
The positivity rate in the past week remained at 4.18 per cent and an average 46 cases were being reported in the past seven days. Around 1,500 samples are being tested daily in the city.
In Panchkula, there are 137 active cases and 207 patients are currently infected with Covid in Mohali. One Covid patient in Mohali is admitted to a hospital, while two are seeking treatment in Panchkula. The remaining patients are seeking home-based care.
