Mohali, June 12
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today demanded “immediate arrest” of Punjab minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot for misusing the funds meant for the scholarship of Dalit students.
The AAP workers burnt an effigy of Dharamsot at the Phase 3-5 intersection here and threatened to launch a series of protests across the state if the government did not take action against the minister.
Addressing the protesters, senior AAP leader Narinder Singh Shergill and district secretary Prabhjot Kaur alleged that Dharamsot had “embezzled Rs 60 core scholarship” amount.
“Due to non-payment of scholarships, various colleges in Punjab have withheld roll numbers of Dalit students, thus putting their careers at stake,” the duo claimed.
They further said the ruling Congress dispensation had become a “government of scams”.
“The vaccine scam, subsidy scam and the Fateh kit scam has exposed the corrupt face of Punjab Government,” they alleged.
