Aam Aadmi Party candidate Prem Garg today announced he would turn Panchkula into a slum-free city, on the lines of Chandigarh, upon being elected. Garg said every person had the right to a clean and safe house, therefore, he added, “We will rehabilitate the residents of illegal colonies and will construct multi-storey flats or provide plots to them at very low prices.”
He said the state would specifically rehabilitate the residents of Rajiv-Indira Colony, Budanpur and Kharak Mangoli. “Another new survey of residents will be conducted for this purpose and the beneficiaries will be decided on its basis. The state will construct flats on the lines of Dhanas and Maloya in Chandigarh.
He said that the AAP had prioritised basic amenities, including education, health, electricity, water and a house for every citizen.
Chander Mohan meets Brahmin community:
Congress candidate Chander Mohan on Friday held a meeting with the representatives of the Brahmin community at a local hotel in the city. Former Deputy CM Chander Mohan said the Brahmin community played a significant role in society.
The representatives raised demands of beautification of Parashuram Chowk and the formation of a Brahmin Welfare Board, among others. The Congress candidate also promised beautification, removal of liquor shops and the formation of the Brahmin Welfare Board to the representatives.
