After defeat in the Panjab University Campus Student Council elections this time by 303 votes, the Aam Aadmi Party-backed Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS), today announced to run a ‘parallel student council’ in the university for welfare of students. According to party leader and presidential candidate Prince Chaudhary, this council will function just like the student council without assuming any formal office and work for student interests. The party will also issue helpline number for students to convey their issues and grievances.

“As presidential candidate for this year PUCSC polls, I will be the member of the parallel council being established by us. Apart from me, three other position holders from the CYSS will be the members. We will be working to address student grievances through legit means and will act as their representatives. This will also keep the elected council in check,” said Chaudhary.

According to other party leaders of the party, this is an attempt to remain relevant amongst the students by addressing their issues. “We lost by a small margin and we are doing everything to ensure that this does not get repeated in future,” said a CYSS campus leader.
