As many as 950 cases of dengue have been reported from Panchkula district this season. In the city’s urban pocket, an average 15 to 18 cases were being reported daily.

Of 950 cases reported till October 14, 451 were from urban Panchkula. Apart from this, 174 cases have been reported from areas falling under Community Health Centre of Old Panchkula, 125 from Surajpur, 96 from Pinjore, 33 from Kalka, 20 from Kot, 14 from Morni area and 10 from Nankpur. A casuality had also been reported in the district. Of the total cases, 499 have been reported from rural parts of the district, while 451 are from its urban segment.

Doctors said earlier the number of cases reported from areas near DLF Colony in Pinjore and Surajpur areas had increased due to stagnation of water at under-construction areas. “We have carried-out activities to get the sites cleared and managed to control the menace. But we continue to receive cases from Sectors in Panchkula city. We are getting one or two cases from different sectors. There are no hotspot areas in urban Panchkula. We are taking effective measures of fogging and clearing stagnant water,” a doctor pointed-out.
