600 attend alumni meet at PEC
Chandigarh, February 10
A global annual alumni meet of Punjab Engineering College (PEC) was held today at the campus. The Punjab Engineering College Old Student Association (PECOSA) organised the event under the guidance of Teekam Chander Bali, president, PECOSA, HS Oberoi, general secretary, PECOSA, and with the grand official sponsorship from ‘Studds.’
IAS officer Ritu Maheshwari along with alumni from the batches of 1954, 1964, 1969, 1974, 1989, 1999, 2009, and 2014 attended the event. Professor Ahsvani Kumar Gosain (Civil Engineering Department at IITD), Pankaj Duhan (Global Head of Reckitt Benckiser Wellness), Sarabjeet Singh Virk (Managing Director and Co-founder of Finvasia Group), the Engineering-in-Chief of PWD (B&R) Haryana, and others were felicitated by the management. The alumni from the batch of 1988 donated two e-vehicles, an e-scooter and an e-cart to the institute today.
More than 600 alumni witnessed the event. Dr Rajesh Kanda, head, alumni and corporate relations, conveyed gratitude towards the family of late alumni Sat Parkash Gupta of 1962 batch, his son Pankaj Gupta had donated Rs 57 lakhs for supporting the education of two girl students. Meanwhile, STUDDS donated Rs 2 lakh for the toppers of aeronautical engineering. Atul Karwal, Director General, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), said the young engineers have to look at technology very strongly, otherwise the nation might be fall behind.
