A total of 219 booths have been declared sensitive and 45 hypersensitive among the 509 booths set up for the elections to be held on February 14 in 195 wards of the Mohali Municipal Corporation and seven municipal councils — Lalru, Kurali, Banur, Dera Bassi, Zirakpur, Nayagaon and Kharar.

  • A total of 4,68,190 voters — 2,35,441 male, 2,32,730 female and 19 third gender — will exercise their right to franchise in the elections

District Election Officer Girish Dayalan said for the Municipal Corporation, Jagdeep Sehgal, SDM, Mohali, and Gurjinder Singh Benipal, District Revenue Officer, have been posted as the returning officers. He said 152 polling booths had been set up for the 50 wards of the Mohali MC. The MC has 1,40,901 registered voters — 72,185 male, 68,715 female and a third gender.

Girish Dayalan said Mahesh Bansal, Assistant Officer (Housing), GMADA, has been posted as the returning officer (RO) for the Lalru Municipal Council where 30 polling booths have been set up for 17 wards. For the Kurali MC , Manisha Rana, Assistant Commissioner (under-training), has been appointed the returning officer. A total of 34 booths have been set up for 17 wards. In Banur, 14 polling booths have been set up for 13 wards and Girish Verma, Assistant Commissioner, MC, has been appointed the returning officer. In the Dera Bassi Municipal Council, SDM Kuldeep Singh Bawa has been appointed the RO and 45 polling booths have been set up for 19 wards where 40,980 voters will exercise their franchise. For Zirakpur, Pavittar Singh, Estate Officer (Plants), GMADA, is the RO and 94 polling booths have been set up for 31 wards with 1,02,530 voters.

For the Nayagaon MC, Tarsem Chand, Assistant Commissioner (Complaints), Mohali, has been appointed the RO. A total of 41 polling booths have been set up for 21 wards with 34,305 voters. In Kharar, SDM Himanshu Jain is the RO and 99 polling booths have been set up for 27 wards with 84,309 voters.
