3 suffer injuries as bus, truck collide
Three people were injured in a collision between a CTU bus and a truck at the Sector 51/52 light point this morning. The truck, which was carrying shuttering plates, overturned after colliding with the bus.
According to sources, the bus was en route to the airport from the ISBT, Sector 43, when the truck from the Sector 50 side, reportedly being driven recklessly, hit the bus on the left at the light point. The bus had nearly crossed the intersection when the collision occurred.
The truck overturned and the bus crashed into an electricity pole on the median. There was no passenger in the bus.
Passersby rescued the injured and informed the police. The bus driver, conductor and the truck driver were taken to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Sector 32. The truck driver, suspected to be in an inebriated condition, fled the hospital. The bus driver and the conductor were discharged from the hospital after treatment.
