3 held for several incidents of robbery
The police have arrested three members of a gang involved in looting people by threatening them with a sharp-edged sickle in Zirakpur and the Chhat light point area for the past some time.
Those arrested have been identified as Zirakpur residents Rajinder Singh, Sandeep Kumar and Dhakoli resident Sunny Sachdeva.
The police said the trio used to rob people of cash, mobile phones and would take Googlepay passwords and encash the money in the account of a Zirakpur filling station employee.
The three were arrested from the filling station on October 8 and a bike and mobile phones were recovered from them. On October 4, they had looted Rs 29,000 from a Zirakpur resident, Arpit, around 11:15 pm. On October 7, they looted Rs 5,000 and mobile phone from a Balongi delivery boy, Surjeet Kumar, at Chhat light point. Same day, they targeted a Rajasthan truck driver, Sandeep Kumar, at Patiala Road and robbed him of Rs 22,000 and a mobile phone.
Besides, they had looted a man of Rs 40,000, a girl of Rs 6,200, a youth of Rs 2,800 and a biker of Rs 4,000 and his mobile phone. A case had been registered at the Zirakpur police station.
