3 cases registered for cracker ban violations
The UT police have registered three cases against unidentified persons for violating the District Magistrate’s order by bursting firecrackers beyond the permitted hours.
The police received information about fireworks after the two-hour window near a club in Sector 9. A similar complaint was received from the Sector 24 market area. Two persons were reported to have been bursting crackers near the dispensary in Sector 22 in violation of the orders.
Police officials dispatched PCR vehicles to these locations. However, the violators had left the spot by the time the police reached there.
The cases were filed under Section 223 (disobedience to order promulgated by a public servant) of the BNS at the police stations concerned.
The administration had allowed fireworks between 8 pm and 10 pm, but celebrations reportedly started well before and continued till midnight. The police control room received 110 calls relating to disturbance caused by the excessive use of firecrackers.
Man attacked for objecting to bursting of crackers
A resident of Sector 26 was attacked when he objected to the bursting of crackers beyond the stipulated hours.
Vijay Kumar, a resident of Phase I, Bapu Dham Colony, reported that Nikhil, Arjun, Raj and others were exploding crackers near his home. When he objected to their action, the suspects allegedly assaulted him with a rod. The police have registered a case at the Sector 26 police station.
